George McClurg Anderson, Probate Judge, 1897-1903, Akron Ohio
Excerpt from Fifty years and over of Akron and Summit County, 1892:
Son of Rev. G. W. Anderson, Methodist minister ; born at Princeton, Wis., June
29, 1857 ; in 1859, came with parents to Ohio, living in various places, and
attending- common schools until Fall of 1876, when he entered Allegheny College,
in part defraying the expenses of his four years' course by manual labor,
management of lectures, etc.; in Fall of 1880; came to Krumroy ; October 22,
1880, he was married to Miss Mary E. Jobes, of Damascus, Columbiana Co.;
remained at Krumroy two years, teaching school, working' at painting, common
labor, etc., leisure hours being devoted to Blackstone ; in Fall of 1882,
removed to Ann Arbor, Mich., and entered the law department of the Michigan
University, working in law office during vacations ; on graduating, in Spring of
1884, was admitted to the Supreme Court of Michigan, and to the Courts of Ohio,
June 3, 1884 ; commenced practice in Akron in August, 1884, and elected City
Solicitor, on the Republican ticket, in the Spring of 1889.
