Pretty vintage Valenciennes net insertion lace in ivory ecru with a delicate design reminiscent of a cluster of grapes or berries. Measures approximately 3/4" wide. Not laundered, some age discoloration from oxidation. From a box of very old laces and trims I acquired several years ago from an estate here in Central Texas. One trim was wrapped around an old envelope postmarked 1931, so I would date this trim to sometime around the late 20s or early 30s. Fabulous old lace trim for dolls, bears, restoration projects, fashions and embellishing new heirlooms.

This listing is for 4 yards + 28" of this trim in a single length (a total of 172" or 14.3 feet). I have one more piece of this lace measuring 10 yds 25 inches (item # LC0057). Please check my other listings if you're interested in both pieces. However, please understand that since these are one-of-a-kind items I cannot guarantee availability. Once they're sold, they're gone.

Some things to keep in mind when purchasing vintage trims. I do not launder these vintage textiles, offering them as found. Oxidation is a natural process which can affect textiles. Antique, hand-beaded or embroidered trims may not be perfect. By their very nature, there may be irregularities in old trims and laces. These wonderful old laces and trims many times will be found with small dark spots and/or some age discoloration. Most often they will clean up quite nicely. Start by trying a gentle soak and wash with a mild soap intended for hand washables. If a little more "oomph" is necessary you can try a soak using Biz or Oxy-Clean. When finished, rinse with cold water until the water is clear. Squeeze the excess water out and lay the piece flat to dry. Any ironing should be done on the reverse side (if there is a reverse). An alternative, which is becoming increasingly popular, is to tea-stain old laces or trims which results in some marvelous vintage ecru colors.
